Graphic Novel- Electric Girl
Electric Girl by Michael Brennan, is a graphic novel appropriate for all ages. The story is about a college student named Virginia. Virginia has a wonderful family, a very ugly dog, and an invisible goblin friend named Oogleeoog. The exciting part of the story is that Virginia can control electricity. A graphic novel is a type of comic book where the story is told through pictures and word bubble text. I personally didn't enjoy this book because of the lengthy and complex storyline. I also spent a lot of wasted time trying to read and follow the word bubbles so it was difficult for me to follow along. I did, however, enjoy the comic pictures and the details they brought to the story. I would introduce this to students because children may find this format entertaining, but I would not be able to use it for instructional purposed.
